It’s been a long time since my last post. Amazon GameTech has been quite an adventure so far. Since April 2020, I’ve been busy working with the Lumberyard team, building an Apache 2.0 licensed 3D Engine and a new foundation (O3DF - 26 partners including Intel, Huawei, Adobe, and Redhat) to support the project. The Engine itself is an exciting project, we are building a new photo-realistic 3D renderer, an array of content creation tools, and open source standards throughout (CMAKE, PhysX, math libraries, etc). Most of all it has been exciting to be party to the commitment from AWS to develop and support the open source project into the future.
Growing up, I built computers so that I could play games. Games were a fundamental motivator for my taking a career in technology and yet, until I joined the GameTech team, I had never worked on game technology. Since joining, I have learnt so much from my colleagues, partners, customers, and our leadership. I am going write down some initial to get them clear in my mind and hopefully help others in technology who would like to make the switch.
